Just in time for Christmas, Doofus Proof Golf has finally hit the street. The response has been great so far, and even the PayPal ordering site is working like a champ. How good is that?
Learned that I need to read my own book last week. Played at the beautiful Copperhead Course at Innisbrook resort, and was minding all my etiquette P's and Q's by fixing multiple ball marks on one particular green. I was 80 feet from the guy getting ready to putt, and finished what I was doing and stood up (and still) to watch him putt for par.
Just before he drew his club back, I realized that the setting sun was piercing through the trees behind me, and that big blotch of shade just in front of his ball was my elongated head and shoulders. Instinctively, I bent down quickly to move the shadow out of his line, but did so just as he was drawing back the putter. He missed an 8 foot putt by four feet.
Even though he was pleasant because he was having a rough round anyway, I felt awful, and wondered why I wasn't paying closer attention to what was going on, despite my best intentions on the green.
I know it sounds a little silly, but being an excellent playing partner takes some practice and concentration of its own, but is well worth the time investment required. Live and learn.
